Lawn Bowling

Lawn Bowling is essentially a very simple game – you simply need to roll your big bowls closer to the little ball (the Jack) than your opponent’s bowls.  Doing this well requires skill and finesse, with good tactics and clever strategies required to win the game.

Bowling has been an integral part of the RCYC ever since the Club moved to the Island in the 1890’s.  Since that time, the Club has amassed a very nice collection of bowls, so you need not have your own to enjoy bowling. We invite you to come out to the Island and bowl with us.  We have three options for you.

TGIF Drop-in Bowling runs every Friday, starting at 6:30 pm.

Saturday Bowling

Join us Saturday afternoons on May 11 to September 27, between 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, for classic British Style Lawn Bowling. Enjoy open bowling, friendly tournaments with trophies, and three festive "Teas", ( RCYC-speak for a "party") throughout the summer.  The  August long weekend is a crowd facourite, featuring the spirited competition for the Wood Trophy - proudly sponsored by Woodman Wines and Spirits.

Note: it is recommended that you protect yourself from the midday sun using sunscreen, hats, and light-coloured clothing (Whites). Footwear should be flat soled and kind to the grass.
