Royal Canadian Yacht Club hosts a premier calendar of regattas that attract top sailors from across Canada and beyond to compete on Lake Ontario. From national championships to leading one-design events, each regatta delivers high-level racing in a world-class setting.

Across dinghy, sportboat, and keelboat fleets, sailors can expect tight competition, challenging conditions, and race management that brings out the very best in the fleet. It is sailing that rewards skill, teamwork, and consistency from start to finish.

Off the water, our regattas are known for their welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community, with social events that bring sailors together long after the racing is done.

RCYC OPEN


 

RCYC Open is a premium regatta hosted by Royal Canadian Yacht Club that brings together sailors from across the harbour for a weekend of competitive racing, right in the heart of Toronto’s waterfront.

Participants can expect a well-run, spirited weekend on the water with multiple starts, active race management, and a strong sense of camaraderie across the fleet. Ashore, there is a lively Club atmosphere where sailors and guests come together between and after racing to connect, share stories, and enjoy the day on the waterfront.

It is equal parts competition and community, a true kick-off style regatta that sets the tone for the season ahead.

CYBERSAIL YOUTH 




 
The Cybersail Youth Regatta is a youth-focused sailing event designed to bring together junior sailors for a mix of competitive racing, skill development, and on-water learning in a fun, supportive environment.

It is typically aimed at sailors in youth classes like Optimist and double-handed dinghies such as the 420, giving younger athletes a chance to race against peers of similar experience while also building confidence and boat handling skills in real conditions.

29ER NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP


The 29er North American Championship brings some of the most exciting high-performance youth sailing to our waters, with teams from across the continent converging for fast, close, and highly technical racing.

Sailors compete in the 29er skiff, a demanding and dynamic boat known for its speed and agility, where teamwork and quick decision-making are everything. Over the course of the event, competitors are pushed through a full range of conditions and race scenarios, with tight mark roundings, rapid downwind legs, and plenty of action on every start line.

Ashore, the event carries a strong international spirit, with athletes, coaches, and families sharing in the energy of a championship week that showcases the next generation of elite sailing talent.

ROYAL WEEKEND


 



Royal Weekend at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club is one of the most anticipated fixtures of the season, bringing together competitive sailing and club tradition on Lake Ontario.

Over the course of the weekend, sailors of all levels take to the water for spirited racing across a range of fleets, with well-organized courses, lively starts, and close finishes that make for exciting viewing both on and off the water. Shoreside, the atmosphere carries the same energy, with Members, families, and visiting competitors gathering to enjoy the club’s hospitality and waterfront setting.

Whether you are racing or cheering from the docks, Royal Weekend blends high-quality regatta racing with the best of club life, making it a standout moment in the sailing calendar.

VX ONE CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP


 

The VX One Canadian Championship Regatta brings together one of the most exciting and fast-growing high-performance dinghy fleets in the country for a championship week of fast, close, and tactical racing.

Sailed in identical VX One sportboats, the event puts full emphasis on teamwork, boat speed, and smart decision-making. With lightweight hulls, asymmetrical spinnakers, and responsive handling, the fleet delivers high-adrenaline racing where small gains make a big difference.

Across several days on the water, teams can expect short-course fleet racing, quick transitions, and plenty of tight mark roundings. Conditions on Lake Ontario often keep things lively, rewarding clean execution and constant communication on board.

Off the water, the regatta carries a strong social spirit, with crews coming together after racing to share stories, review the day, and enjoy the community that makes the VX One class so welcoming.

WOMEN'S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP


 

The Women’s Club Championship brings together female sailors from yacht clubs across Canada for a competitive and welcoming regatta focused on teamwork, skill, and close fleet racing.

Sailed in Club boats, the event keeps things even across the board, placing emphasis on communication, boat handling, and smart decision-making on the water.

Over the weekend, teams can expect short-course racing in changing Lake Ontario conditions, with tight mark roundings and plenty of tactical action from start to finish.

Off the water, it’s just as important, with a strong sense of community as sailors connect, share experiences, and celebrate women’s racing at the Club level.

J/80 & J/105 CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS


The J/80 and J/105 Canadian Championship Regatta brings together some of the country’s most competitive one-design sailing for a multi-day battle on Lake Ontario. Hosted by leading yacht clubs, the event welcomes top teams from across Canada and beyond to compete for national titles in two of the most dynamic classes in the sport.

With all boats racing under strict one-design rules, the focus stays exactly where it should be: teamwork, boat handling, strategy, and reading the ever-changing lake conditions. The J/80 delivers tight, tactical action in a light sportboat format, while the J/105 fleet delivers powerful, fast-paced racing in 35-foot keelboats.

Over several days of racing, teams can expect a full schedule of short, high-intensity fleet races, shifting breeze, and close mark roundings that keep the leaderboard in constant motion. Onshore, the regatta is just as vibrant, with a strong sense of community, debriefs after racing, and social events that bring the fleets together.

It’s a true test of skill, consistency, and teamwork, set against one of Canada’s most iconic sailing venues.
